Out of Bounds Memory Read in Linux Kernel Affects Multiple Products
CVE-2026-80749
What is CVE-2026-80749?
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel arises from a flaw in the handling of audio infoframes in the drm/connector/hdmi section. This issue occurs when a helper function erroneously uses the destination size rather than the source size while copying data, leading to potential out of bounds reading of memory. While this improper copying is unlikely to cause direct corruption, it opens up the possibility of encountering memory access violations, particularly with larger memory structures. The vulnerability, although identified during KUnit tests, must be addressed to ensure robust error handling and memory safety across affected versions.
