What is CVE-2026-82289?

Gitingest versions prior to 0.3.1 are vulnerable due to improper hostname validation in the _validate_host method. This flaw allows attackers to submit malicious URLs that contain controlled hostnames with prefixes such as git., gitlab., or github. As a result, these URLs could trigger outbound requests to arbitrary hosts. This behavior can lead to exposure of sensitive information, including GitHub personal access tokens, through unauthorized HTTP basic authentication credentials. Users of affected versions should upgrade to mitigate this risk.

Affected Version(s)

gitingest 0 <= 0.3.1
