What is CVE-2026-82324?

A critical flaw exists in the file-iff (IFF/ILBM) plugin of GIMP where improper validation of the HAM row size in specially crafted IFF/ILBM image files can lead to significant security risks. The vulnerability arises when the number of color planes (nPlanes) is incorrectly set to zero, causing a mismatch in row sizes. This lack of proper memory bounds checking can result in heap out-of-bounds reads, potentially leading to application crashes, denial of service, or limited information disclosure of heap contents.
