What is CVE-2026-82537?

Roo-Code prior to version 3.54.0 contains a vulnerability that enables attackers to bypass the auto-approve mechanism, facilitating unauthorized execution of shell commands. By exploiting a word-boundary mismatch in comment processing between the approval gate's shell parser and bash, attackers can craft command strings that combine allowed words with blocked commands. This manipulation allows the malicious command to pass through the approval gate while being executed with elevated privileges on the developer's machine. Consequently, this poses a significant security risk, necessitating prompt updates to safeguard against potential exploitation.

Affected Version(s)

Roo-Code 0 <= 3.54.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
