What is CVE-2026-82736?

A vulnerability in the Ash Project's handling of case-insensitive strings allows an attacker to store values that improperly bypass defined constraints on length and format. Specifically, the validation for max_length, min_length, and match constraints occurs before the string is case-folded, enabling the submission of a value that appears valid but actually violates the constraints when stored. For example, a string that requires uppercase letters can have its validation passed with a lowercase version of that string, leading to potential data integrity issues. The corrective measure involves reordering operations to ensure that the value is folded before constraints are applied, thus securing the data consistency.
