Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in SOEM by RT-Labs
CVE-2026-82943
6.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-82943?
The SOEM (Simple Open EtherCAT Master) software, specifically in versions up to and including 2.0.0, is susceptible to a buffer overflow issue. This vulnerability arises from the software's improper handling of length values derived from device responses, allowing malicious devices to send crafted messages. Consequently, an attacker may exploit this flaw to read data from unintended memory locations, potentially extracting sensitive information of up to 64KB from the master’s memory. This raises significant security concerns for systems utilizing SOEM, particularly in environments reliant on secure data communication.
