What is CVE-2026-84269?

A vulnerability exists in the AFP backend of gvfs where mounting a share from a malicious AFP server can lead to a buffer overflow. This occurs because the system fails to validate the server-provided length against the predefined size of the reply buffer. As a result, this flaw could permit an unauthorized server to manipulate data, potentially leading to the gvfsd-afp process crashing and causing denial of service.
