What is CVE-2026-84499?

A flaw in the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform's automation-controller allows a user with delegated JobTemplate Admin permissions to exploit a vulnerability related to password survey questions. These questions are stored encrypted, but when a validation error message is triggered due to tightened survey specifications, the controller decrypts and openly displays the password in plaintext. This security oversight presents a significant risk, enabling unauthorized users to recover sensitive passwords belonging to higher-privileged accounts through the revalidation process.
