What is CVE-2026-86035?

Weblate, a popular web-based continuous localization platform for managing software translations, is affected by an argument injection vulnerability in its Mercurial backend. This flaw, present in versions from 4.11.1 to 2026.7.1, enables that repository filenames starting with '-' can be misinterpreted as Mercurial options rather than literal paths. An authenticated user possessing project-scoped component.edit permissions can exploit this vulnerability via a Mercurial-backed RESX component using the Update RESX files add-on. A subsequent repository update might lead to the execution of arbitrary commands with the privileges of the Weblate service account. This issue stems from an incomplete fix related to a previous vulnerability and has been addressed in Weblate version 2026.8.

Affected Version(s)
