What is CVE-2026-86770?

The vulnerability in Snipe-IT prior to version 8.7.0 pertains to inadequate validation of username case sensitivity during SAML authentication. This oversight permits attackers to authenticate as different users by creating Identity Provider (IdP) accounts with accent or case variations of valid usernames. Exploiting the default utf8mb4_unicode_ci database collation enables attackers to bypass username matching, facilitating unauthorized account access through federated login methods such as SAML, LDAP, and OAuth.
