What is CVE-2026-88048?

The Tesseract OCR engine is vulnerable due to improper validation of deserialized layer scalars, which can lead to heap out-of-bounds read and write operations. A crafted .traineddata NT_SOFTMAX layer can exploit the discrepancies between weight-matrix dimensions, resulting in heap corruption and possible crashes. This vulnerability may also expose sensitive information or lead to uncontrolled data manipulation. As of the latest review, no patches have been released to address this issue.
