Denial of Service Vulnerability in nfs-utils Affecting Red Hat
CVE-2026-89096

5.9MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-89096?

A vulnerability exists in nfs-utils where an unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit the rpc.statd service. By sending repeated state notification requests, this flaw triggers a Denial of Service (DoS). The service fails to release memory effectively during callback processing, resulting in continuous memory growth. If the requests persist, they can lead to exhaustion of system resources, ultimately causing the service to degrade significantly or crash entirely.
