What is CVE-2026-90830?

A vulnerability exists in GNU Binutils version 2.47 affecting the _bfd_write_merged_section function within the Section Merge component. This vulnerability can lead to a null pointer dereference, which requires local access to exploit. The issue was made public following a bug report; however, the project maintainers have not yet addressed the vulnerability. Due to its local nature, this flaw may enable an attacker to disrupt normal program execution and exploit resource availability.
