Local Denial of Service in SSSD Affects Red Hat Products
CVE-2026-90995
5.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-90995?
A vulnerability exists in the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) that allows a local attacker with the necessary privileges to connect to the PAM responder socket. By sending a specifically crafted protocol request without the service item, under certain configurations, it may trigger a NULL pointer dereference. This leads to a denial of service, where the PAM responder crashes, interrupting essential authentication services, thus potentially compromising system security.
