What is CVE-2026-92811?

Versions 1.44.0 through 2.56.7 of Browserless are susceptible to a file protocol restriction bypass vulnerability. This flaw enables authenticated token holders to bypass file protocol restrictions on Playwright websocket endpoints, allowing them to access arbitrary files. Even with the ALLOW_FILE_PROTOCOL setting defaulting to false, attackers can exploit this weakness by navigating to file scheme URLs, gaining unauthorized access to files that are typically restricted to the container process.

Affected Version(s)

browserless 1.44.0 <= 2.56.7

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
