Access Control Vulnerability in SSSD Affects LDAP Environments
CVE-2026-92821
6.8MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-92821?
A security flaw in SSSD allows an authenticated user with an expired password to bypass access control restrictions in LDAP environments. When configured to check password expiration warnings before applying restrictive access rules, an expired-password warning can lead to an early termination of rule evaluation, falsely treating an access request as valid. This flaw can be exploited by remote users employing alternative authentication methods, such as SSH public key authentication, potentially granting unauthorized access to protected systems.
