What is CVE-2026-94109?

openEQUELLA versions prior to 2026.1.0 are vulnerable to a remote code execution issue. This vulnerability arises from an unsandboxed configuration of the TemplateClassResolver in FreeMarker template compilation. Authenticated attackers can exploit this issue by injecting malicious template expressions through various vectors, including collection summaries and dashboard portlets. This may lead to the instantiation of unsafe classes such as freemarker.template.utility.Execute, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the system using Runtime.exec.
