What is CVE-2026-96275?

A vulnerability exists in Flatpak that allows a compromised repository to write attacker-controlled content to arbitrary locations in the host filesystem. This occurs through the extract_extra_data() function, which improperly handles symlinks and fails to sanitize blob names from xa.extra-data-sources, permitting directory traversal attacks leading to unauthorized file alterations at the system level.
