What is CVE-2026-98144?

A memory management vulnerability in the AMD RDNA graphics driver of the Linux kernel allows for reference leaks during command chain processing. Specifically, when the mapping of a buffer object (BO) fails, the driver does not properly drop the reference, which could potentially lead to resource exhaustion. Although normal kernel operations do not typically trigger this path, specific user-space manipulations can expose the leak, particularly in scenarios involving DMA-buf imports. Users are advised to update their kernel to the latest version to mitigate this issue.
