What is CVE-2026-98336?

A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel related to the handling of TC (Traffic Control) setup on AP_VLAN interfaces. These interfaces, being purely virtual, should not allow the offloading of TC configurations to underlying drivers. Due to the dynamic nature of AP interfaces, where their state may frequently change, attempting to offload TC setup can lead to improper functioning of network traffic management. This vulnerability has been addressed by ensuring that TC offload requests for AP_VLAN interfaces are rejected, prompting the tasks to be executed in software instead.
