What is CVE-2026-98395?

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel affects the PowerPC architecture, specifically during the handling of replayed interrupts. When a pending interrupt is replayed, the function __replay_soft_interrupts() fails to restore the proper IRQ soft mask, leading to a potential corruption of IRQ handling. This flaw may result in unexpected behavior during interrupts, as the irq_soft_mask can be improperly set to IRQS_DISABLED instead of maintaining correct masking. A fix has been implemented by replacing local_irq_disable() with hard_irq_disable(), ensuring the appropriate state of IRQ handling during these operations.
