Buffer Overrun in Intel BCM57412 NetXtreme-E NICs Impacting Linux Kernel
CVE-2026-99081
What is CVE-2026-99081?
A buffer overrun vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel that affects Intel BCM57412 NetXtreme-E NICs. This vulnerability occurs during the transmission of small padded packets on VLAN and macvlan interfaces. When the system attempts to transmit packets that are smaller than the minimum required packet size, the data buffer is improperly mapped for DMA operations. This results in the hardware being instructed to read more data than it has mapped, leading to potential access violations and IOMMU faults. A patch has been introduced to ensure that the correct size of the buffer is being mapped, effectively mitigating this issue.
