What is CVE-2014-8585?

A directory traversal vulnerability exists in the Download Manager plugin for WordPress, allowing an attacker to exploit the fname parameter. By using a crafted request with a dot-dot-slash sequence, attackers can gain unauthorized access to sensitive files on the server through the file_download.php and views/file_download.php endpoints. This flaw poses significant risks as it may expose critical data and system files leading to further exploitation.
