What is CVE-2017-18499?

The Simple Membership Plugin for WordPress prior to version 3.5.7 is susceptible to a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This vulnerability allows attackers to inject malicious scripts into the plugin, which can be executed in the context of other users accessing the affected site. Users with misconfigured plugins are at risk of session hijacking, data theft, and other malicious activity.
