What is CVE-2020-35590?

The Limit Login Attempts Reloaded plugin for WordPress prior to version 2.17.4 is susceptible to a vulnerability that allows attackers to bypass rate limiting protections. By manipulating the X-Forwarded-For header, a malicious entity can forge the client source IP address, thereby evading brute force attack mitigation measures. This misconfiguration permits an attacker to attempt an infinite number of login attempts without triggering the expected rate limit restrictions, posing a significant risk to WordPress sites using this plugin.
