Summary

The Advanced Custom Fields plugin for WordPress prior to version 5.8.12 contains a vulnerability whereby the plugin fails to properly escape strings in Select2 dropdowns. This oversight could allow an attacker to execute malicious scripts in the context of the user's session. By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker can manipulate the application to deliver harmful payloads, resulting in unauthorized data access or the manipulation of site content.
