What is CVE-2020-37233?

The BuddyPress plugin for WordPress version 6.2.0 suffers from a persistent cross-site scripting vulnerability. Authenticated users with moderator privileges can exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious script code through the figure parameter in wp:html blocks. The presence of this vulnerability allows attackers to introduce iframe elements equipped with event handlers such as onload, which execute upon previewing or viewing the compromised page content by administrators or users with elevated privileges. This poses a significant risk of session hijacking and enables persistent phishing attacks, compromising the integrity and security of the affected web application.
