Authorization Bypass in Kiwi Social Share Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2021-4362
What is CVE-2021-4362?
The Kiwi Social Share plugin for WordPress has a serious authorization bypass flaw stemming from a missing capability check in its AJAX action, specifically in the kiwi_social_share_get_option() function. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to both read and modify arbitrary options on a WordPress site. Such exploitation can lead to significant risks, including complete site takeover. Alarmingly, this vulnerability was previously addressed but has resurfaced in version 2.1.0 of the plugin, requiring immediate attention from site administrators.
