IP Address Spoofing Vulnerability in Limit Login Attempts Plus Plugin
CVE-2022-4533

5.3MEDIUM

What is CVE-2022-4533?

The Limit Login Attempts Plus plugin for WordPress suffers from an IP Address Spoofing vulnerability in versions up to and including 1.1.0. This vulnerability arises from inadequate restrictions on the source of IP Address data used for logging requests and enforcing login restrictions. Cyber attackers can exploit this by supplying a crafted X-Forwarded-For header, effectively altering the reported IP Address used during login attempts. This method can circumvent existing security measures which may have previously barred specific IP addresses or entire countries from logging in. The flaw underscores the necessity for improved validation of IP Address inputs to prevent unauthorized access via this manipulation.
