What is CVE-2022-4534?

The Limit Login Attempts (Spam Protection) plugin for WordPress is susceptible to IP address spoofing due to inadequate controls on where IP address information is fetched for logging and login restrictions. This vulnerability allows attackers to forge the X-Forwarded-For header, submitting a different IP address. As a result, the maliciously supplied IP address can be recorded, enabling attackers to exploit login restrictions that would normally prevent access based on geographic or IP address-based blocks. The issue arises in versions through 5.3, potentially exposing users to unauthorized login and increased risks of account compromise.
