PrivateContent Plugin Bypass Vulnerability for WordPress
CVE-2023-0581
5.3MEDIUM
Summary
The PrivateContent plugin for WordPress exhibits a protection mechanism bypass vulnerability attributed to its reliance on client-side validation. This flaw, present in versions up to and including 8.4.3, allows an attacker to potentially circumvent login restrictions by exploiting the plugin’s method of checking IP blocklists through client-side scripts instead of rigorous server-side verification. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can launch brute force attacks without being properly blocked.
