Arbitrary File Upload Vulnerability in User Registration Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2023-3342

9.9CRITICAL

What is CVE-2023-3342?

The User Registration plugin for WordPress is exposed to an arbitrary file upload vulnerability stemming from a hardcoded encryption key and inadequate file type validation in the 'ur_upload_profile_pic' function. This issue affects versions up to and including 3.0.2, allowing authenticated attackers, with at least subscriber privileges, to upload arbitrary files to the server. Such an exploit could lead to potential remote code execution. While a partial patch was included in version 3.0.2, it is essential for users to update to version 3.0.2.1 for complete mitigation.
