CVE-2023-5311
What is CVE-2023-5311?
The WP EXtra plugin for WordPress suffers from a significant vulnerability due to a lack of proper capability checks in the register() function. This flaw affects versions up to and including 6.2 and allows authenticated users with subscriber-level permissions and above to alter the contents of the site's .htaccess files, located in the root directory and the /wp-content and /wp-includes folders. Such modifications can lead to remote code execution, posing serious risks to website integrity and security.
