Stored Cross-Site Scripting in Sponsors Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2023-5662
What is CVE-2023-5662?
The Sponsors plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) through the 'sponsors' shortcode. This vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can inject malicious scripts into the web pages. These scripts execute whenever a user accesses the affected pages, potentially compromising sensitive user data and site integrity. Users are advised to update to the latest version of the plugin to mitigate this security risk.
