CVE Published:
4 January 2025

Summary

The Backup Migration plugin for WordPress is exposed to a PHP Object Injection flaw in all versions up to and including 1.4.6. This vulnerability arises from the deserialization of untrusted input within the 'recursive_unserialize_replace' function. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this weakness to inject a PHP Object. The presence of a PHP Object Injection (POP) chain significantly increases the risks, allowing attackers to execute harmful actions such as deleting arbitrary files, accessing sensitive data, or executing malicious code on the server. To trigger this exploit, an administrator must set up a staging site, highlighting a critical need for vigilance among WordPress users utilizing this plugin.
