What is CVE-2024-11199?

The Rescue Shortcodes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) through its rescue_progressbar shortcode. All versions up to and including 2.9 exhibit this vulnerability due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping for user-supplied attributes. This flaw enables authenticated attackers, possessing contributor-level access or higher, to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These scripts execute when other users access the compromised page, posing significant security risks to both the website and its users.
