What is CVE-2024-11918?

The Image Alt Text plugin for WordPress is susceptible to a vulnerability allowing for unauthorized data modification. This risk arises from a missing capability check on the iat_add_alt_txt_action and iat_update_alt_txt_action AJAX actions. As a result, authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and higher can alter the alt text associated with arbitrary images. Such unauthorized changes can compromise the integrity of the website content, affect search engine optimization, and degrade the user experience.
