What is CVE-2024-12299?

The System Dashboard plugin for WordPress is susceptible to reflected cross-site scripting due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the Filename parameter. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 2.8.15. An attacker could exploit this issue to execute arbitrary web scripts in the context of an administrative user by tricking them into clicking on a malicious link. It poses a significant risk as it could lead to unauthorized actions being performed on the site.
