What is CVE-2024-12453?

The Uptodown APK Download Widget plugin for WordPress is exposed to a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability. This flaw arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'utd-widget' shortcode. Authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can exploit this vulnerability to embed arbitrary web scripts into web pages. These scripts are executed whenever users access the compromised pages, posing significant risks to website integrity and user data.
