What is CVE-2024-12874?

The Top Comments WordPress plugin, prior to version 1.0, lacks proper sanitization and escaping mechanisms for certain settings. This oversight can enable users with elevated permissions, such as administrators, to execute Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks, potentially compromising the security of the site and its users. Even in environments where the unfiltered_html capability is restricted, such as multisite setups, this vulnerability poses significant risks.
