What is CVE-2024-1391?

The Elementor Addon Elements plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability that affects versions up to and including 1.12.12. The vulnerability arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping related to the 'eae_custom_overlay_switcher' attribute of the Thumbnail Slider widget. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary scripts into web pages. Such scripts are executed when unsuspecting users visit these manipulated pages, posing a serious security risk to website integrity and user data.
