What is CVE-2024-1505?

The Academy LMS plugin for WordPress is subject to a vulnerability allowing privilege escalation due to improper handling of user meta updates within the saved_user_info() function. This flaw permits authenticated users with minimal permissions, such as students, to gain elevated privileges, potentially transforming their user role to that of an administrator. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 1.9.19, exposing sites using this plugin to significant security risks.
