What is CVE-2024-2008?

The Modal Popup Box plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection due to improper handling of untrusted input in its awl_modal_popup_box_shortcode function. This vulnerability allows authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher to inject PHP objects. If an exploited system contains a suitable POP chain, which could be set up through an additional plugin or theme, the attacker may gain the ability to delete files, access sensitive information, or execute arbitrary code.
