What is CVE-2024-3901?

The Genesis Blocks plugin for WordPress, prior to version 3.1.3, features a vulnerability that fails to adequately escape attributes for some custom blocks. This oversight allows users with permissions to create posts, such as those with a contributor role, to exploit the system and execute Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. This could lead to unauthorized code execution and potential compromise of user data, making it imperative for site administrators to update to the latest version.

Affected Version(s)

Genesis Blocks 0 <= 3.1.3

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
