What is CVE-2024-58339?
The LlamaIndex (run-llama/llama_index) product has a vulnerability in its VannaPack VannaQueryEngine, where the custom_query() function generates and executes SQL statements based on user input without any limits on execution resources. This flaw allows untrusted users to exploit the system by providing prompts that can lead to bloated, resource-intensive SQL operations. As a result, such operations can deplete CPU or memory resources, causing a denial-of-service condition for the application. The issue is located in the llama_index/packs/vanna/base.py file within the custom_query() method.
