What is CVE-2024-8493?

The Events Calendar plugin for WordPress, prior to version 6.6.4, fails to properly sanitize and escape certain settings, which exposes the application to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities. This allows high privilege users, such as administrators, to execute malicious scripts, even when the ability to use unfiltered HTML is restricted, particularly in multisite configurations. This vulnerability highlights the importance of strict input handling and user privilege management in web applications.
