What is CVE-2024-8618?

The Pagelayer WordPress plugin prior to version 1.9.0 has a critical flaw where certain settings are not adequately sanitized and escaped. This oversight can permit users with high privileges, such as administrators, to carry out Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. This vulnerability is especially concerning in environments where capabilities like unfiltered_html are restricted, such as on multisite installations. Attackers could exploit this weakness to inject malicious scripts that execute when compromised settings are accessed, potentially compromising site integrity and user data.

Affected Version(s)

Page Builder: Pagelayer 0 < 1.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
