What is CVE-2024-8619?

The Ajax Search Lite plugin for WordPress prior to version 4.12.3 is susceptible to a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This issue arises because certain settings are not properly sanitized or escaped. As a result, users with high privileges, such as administrators, may inadvertently introduce malicious scripts. This vulnerability poses risks even in configurations where the unfiltered_html capability is restricted, such as in multisite setups, potentially allowing attackers to execute harmful scripts on the site.
