What is CVE-2024-8985?

The Social Proof (Testimonial) Slider plugin for WordPress has a vulnerability that allows for Stored Cross-Site Scripting through the spslider-block shortcode. This issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-provided attributes in all versions up to and including 2.2.4. Authenticated users, with contributor-level access or higher, can exploit this flaw to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. Once these scripts are executed, they can compromise the security of users accessing the manipulated pages, creating potential risks for data integrity and user privacy.
