What is CVE-2024-9238?

The AVIF Uploader plugin for WordPress prior to version 1.1.1 contains a flaw in its file upload handling. It fails to sanitize SVG files during upload, allowing unauthorized users, including those with minimal permissions like the Author role, the ability to upload malicious SVG files containing Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) payloads. This vulnerability poses significant risks, including potential unauthorized actions on behalf of users and exposure of sensitive data.
